Co-founders Mark and Andrew have known each other for many decades, having previously studied and worked together. Mark is a scientist and Andrew is a technologist. Their combined experience covers bioinformatics, genetics, clinical trials and medical regulations.

Together they are able to help navigate the journey from laboratory needs and scientific requirements to cloud solutions with compliance procedures. They help biotech companies deliver business, scientific and technical goals.

Dr Mark D Preston, CEO

Mark has held senior roles in industry and for the UK regulator (MHRA), and is fully focussed on helping scientists bring great ideas out of the lab and to market.

Mark is a published research mathematician and bioinformatician/data scientist working with genetic, epidemiological, human, parasite, virus, bacterial and butterfly scientists, from all over the globe.

Andrew Smith, CTO

Andrew has 25 years experience developing and delivering software solutions.

Prior to Prismea, Andrew spent more than a decade building and leading global engineering teams at Medidata, a leading clinical trials SaaS provider. Here he became an expert in information security and regulatory compliance, working with global CROs and regulators including the MHRA and FDA.

Prismea have provided a complete, joined up service: from bioinformatic analyses, to AWS cloud infrastructure as well as creating easy to implement PHI policies. Their breadth of experience across the entire R&D pipeline has been invaluable in growing as fast as we have.
